To create many of his paintings, Morten Viskum uses the severed hand of a cadaver as a brush and animal blood mixed with acrylic paint as his colour. The action that gives origin to the work is a vital part of the work itself, and has on a number of occasions been part of public performance.

During exhibitions, the hand in question lies in a metal box and the public can choose whether to see it or not.
